Taiwan Tourism Bureau holds 2 workshops in Tel Aviv, reaffirming its commitment to the Israel market

Israel announced as Taiwan’s fastest growing Middle Eastern market.

TEL AVIV, July 31, 2018 -- On July 25, 2018, The Taiwan Tourism Bureau (TTB) hosted 2 workshops at the meeting rooms of the Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv City Center hotel. A morning workshop brought together invitees from Israel’s outbound tourism trade industry, while an evening workshop welcomed Israeli media and bloggers. Both events were attended by senior officials from the Taiwan Tourism Bureau and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Tel Aviv.

In his opening remarks at both events, Ambassador Kuoboug Chang, highlighted Taiwan’s friendly people, safe environment and convenience of public transportation as being great reasons to consider Taiwan for your next holiday. Dr. Trust H.J. Lin, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s office in charge of the Middle East featured 3 points of good news in his speeches at the workshops:

  1. 1)  Israel is the fastest growing market in the Middle East for tourists coming to Taiwan, with

    year-on-year growth of 23.6% in 2017, and expectations of double-digit growth again in 2018.

  2. 2)  Airline Cathay Pacific is using state-of-the-art A350-1000 airplanes on their Tel Aviv to Hong

    Kong route, adding comfort and quality to Israeli travelers’ long-haul journeys from Israel to Asia. From Hong Kong, it is only an additional 1.5 hours flight to Taipei, with Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon together flying between Hong Kong and Taipei an average of 18 times per day, so it is now easier than ever to visit Taiwan, the Heart of Asia.

  3. 3)  Taiwan’s pavilion at the 2019 IMTM (International Mediterranean Tourism Market) Exhibition will be even larger, with a greater number of tour operators from Taiwan present in Tel Aviv to maximize Israelis’ chances to find out about great holiday options in Taiwan.

Good humor was present throughout the workshops, with both hosts and participants finding the funny side of many of the talks and subsequent activities. This demonstrates how warm and friendly Taiwanese are, and that despite some cultural differences, Israelis and Taiwanese can still enjoy each other’s company.

With over 60 guests, including Taiwanese tour operators, international airlines such as Cathay Pacific and El Al, as well as Israeli travel agents and media, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau

considers these mid-year workshops to be a firm re-commitment to promoting Taiwan as the ultimate holiday destination for Israeli travelers.

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau (TTB) is the official government agency of Taiwan (R.O.C.) responsible for domestic and international tourism policy development and execution. The Israel market is managed by the Singapore branch of TTB.

The marketing slogans currently in use for Taiwan, are “Time for Taiwan” and “The Heart of Asia”, while the official mascot of the TTB is Oh!Bear, a cartoon Formosan Black bear, the national animal of Taiwan.
