Hualien earthquake announcement

At 23:50 pm on February 6, 2018, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred off the coast of Hualien County with an intensity of 7 felt in Hualien City. The damage area was limited to some parts of Hualien City. The road to Taroko Gorge, from the section of Dayu Ling to Taroko, has been temporarily closed due to sporadic rockfall. Once that section of road is re-opened, we will issue a notification separately.

At present, the whole Taiwan Railways and highway traffic is in normal operation. Except for a very small part of Hualien City, all other scenic spots and tourist attractions are open for operation as normal and travelers can feel at ease visiting these places.
